The lighting system of a vehicle is critical to the illumination on roadways and the visibility of the vehicle, ensuring the safety of vehicle occupants and that of other road users. For these reasons, they must be tested to the relevant standards in order to be sold on markets worldwide.
Element’s experts have a thorough familiarity with lighting specifications for lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment. We can perform automotive lighting testing on a variety of products, from headlamps to tail lights, center high-mount stop light or PCB boards, serving customers in the automotive, medium and heavy truck, and buses industries.
Lamp viberation testing fixture
A new test procedure was developed to obtain headlamp accelerations from several heavy-duty trucks operating under severe road conditions, and apply these accelerations and electrical energy to headlamps during a vibration test in the laboratory. Results were statistically analyzed using hazard plotting techniques. To date, tests indicate that halogen sealed beam headlamps may have a greater life expectancy than tungsten sealed beam headlamps in a heavy-duty truck environment.
